Rich media development
Axian now offers software development for "rich media," perhaps better known as "multi-media or software for kids' games and toys." This new offering is a natural (fun and challenging!) extension of Axian’s traditional software product engineering done for clients who develop software products for sale or who make hardware and systems products that include software. This includes new product development, and more often these days, it means sustaining software by performance tuning to make things run faster, debugging, or upgrading to newer versions of operating systems or hardware.

We’ve just landed our first such project with Prime Entertainment, a Division of Digital Blue, here in Portland to update software to support Digital Snapshot Binoculars, a high tech toy marketed to kids for them to take photos and make movies of what they see through a binocular.

The capabilities of Dwain Fagerberg and his team:

  • Cross-platform software products that run on PC, Mac, Playstation, etc.
  • Interactive sound, animation, video, Flash...
  • Project management from concept and design through implementation, production, and ongoing updates
  • Fast development on a robust, proprietary framework
  • Art and creative development through an alliance with ImageBuilder

Developers' Past Projects Include:

  • Disney's Magic Artist [Shrink-wrapped Edu-tainment Software Product]
  • Print Shop Deluxe [Office/Home Productivity Product]
  • Digital Move Creator [Software for Intelligent Toys and Tools]

Now in addition to the usual software product development and IT projects we do for clients we’ve been doing more security related work. Here are a couple of examples of ways we’ve been recently helping clients. We can’t be to specific of the details on these kinds of assignments – you understand.

Trade secrets project:
A law firm called on Thursday afternoon needing a forensics expert to examine a client’s PC used by an employee who was going to work for a competitor. Burning the midnight oil, our expert confirmed trade secrets had flown out the door and provided testimony in court on Monday which resulted in an injunction preventing the employee from working for the competitor.

HIPPA project:
A State Agency needed an assessment of its HIPAA compliance (protection of personal health information). Our systems security consultant analyzed their policies, procedures, and network, and then compared those to what HIPAA requires of enterprises today. Our HIPAA expert clarified the gaps and outlined considerations to close them. We often help our client to implement our recommendations.
